Management Buy-Out
[Netherlands, 08-09-2005]

Owners Sip Baarsma and Peter Wagenaar have sold their controlling interest in Baarsma Wine Group through a management buy-out to the new management led by Tjeerd van der Hoek. Tjeerd van der Hoek, current member of the board of the Baarsma Wine Group, and Cees de Rade, commercial director Oud Reuchlin & Boelen acquire a controlling interest and form the new management of Baarsma Wine Group Holding.

Sip Baarsma: "This is a great opportunity to continue the company. I have complete faith that Baarsma Wine Group under management of Tjeerd van der Hoek will further consolidate its position as one of the leading wine-trade houses in Europe."

Since 1977 Baarsma Wine Group, market leader in the Benelux, has been active on the Dutch market and in Northwest Europe with a broad selection of quality wines for all market sectors: supermarkets, wine specialist shops, catering industry, and the internet.

The take-over ensures the continuation of the company. Under management of Tjeerd van der Hoek and Cees de Rade Baarsma Wine Group can increase the pace of its growth and can consolidate its position in Europe even further.

Tjeerd van der Hoek: "This is the right moment to expand the existing success of the Baarsma Wine Group, through forward integration with a focus on the import and distribution of wine. This means investing in further improvement and expansion of Baarsma's wine distribution network in Europe."
